What's your cancellation policy?

Please note that we have to stick to our cancellation policy. If you cancel less than 48 hours (72 hours HOLIDAY week, rally 1 week notice) you will be charged your full stay. We hate to do this but we do book out and someone else misses out on their pups doghouse stay. Thank you for understanding.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Yes, we ask that you make a reservation at least 48-hours in advanced so that we can staff appropriately.

Why should I take my dog to doggy daycare?

1. Your dog needs stimulation. If they are left alone all day, this may lead to anxiety, boredom, stress and unwanted behaviors. Daycare is a great solutions for any dog in need of mental stimulation, exercise and attention.
2. It’s cold in the Black Hills. These cold temperatures can be dangerous to animals left outside. We have an indoor play area for exactly this reason.
3. Dogs are social creatures and thrive being around other canine buddies.
4. We will tire your dog out so that you both can rest after a long day of work.

Can I bring my dog's favorite toy?

Having a toy in the kennel overnight presents a safety hazard to the dogs. Please leave all toys at home.

Are there any breeds of dogs that are not allowed?

Unfortunately, we do not allow pitbulls at the Doghouse.

If a dog has been known to bite or be aggressive, no matter the breed, they are not allowed.

How does my dog become a member of the doghouse?

We highly suggest that you come and tour our facility first. We also recommend a slow introduction/behavior day.  If we feel comfortable that your dog is ready for daycare, we will, at that time, decide.  We refuse any aggressive dogs.

Why is my dog so tired after daycare?

Because he has so much fun, of course! Typically, when a dog goes home from daycare tired, this could mean he spent all his energy playing and socializing. Even if your dog isn’t a huge player, mental stimulation can be very tiring too.

What vaccinations are required?

DHPP, Rabies & Bordetella

These vaccinations must be administered no less than 2 weeks prior to the first visit.

If you are visiting us from another state, we also require a fecal flotation test or a recent deworming. We also ask that you bring flea control.

You or your vet can email papers to info@deadwooddoghouse.com at least 2 days before the first visit. Or fax to 605-250-1086.

At what age may I bring my puppy into daycare?

Final shots are usually given to puppies around age 16 weeks. We allow puppies to join us two weeks after they have all of their shots. So, the earliest we would accept a dog would be around 18 weeks. Also, we cannot accommodate dogs older than 13 years of age.

Do you administer medication?

We do administer oral medications only.

Do the dogs get breaks throughout the day?

Lucky pups, yes they do! We have an afternoon break scheduled every day to make sure your dog’s needs are met. See the daycare page for our daily schedule.

Is someone there 24/7?

YES! We live on the premises. Your dogs will never be left unattended.

However, this doesn’t mean we are always available. Please contact us if you would like to schedule a tour.

We do have set hours where we are closed so that no dog is left unattended. Please see our business hours in the footer below.  If we don’t answer the doghouse door please give us a call and leave us a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

What is your drop off/pick up policy?

We ask that you remain in the lobby while dropping off and picking up as it gets a little chaotic at these times and we don’t want the gates or doors left opened. If you would feel more comfortable touring our facility please schedule an appointment and we would be happy to do so.
